About

Christopher Tuohy is an award-winning Irish furniture designer and maker, passionate about bringing traditional craftsmanship into the modern home. After initially studying cultural anthropology and earning an MA from Maynooth University, Ireland and the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia he found his way into furniture making in early 2021 as a hobby maker. This quickly became an all consuming interest and led to career change. He studied furniture design and making at Colaiste Stiofain Naofa in Cork City and graduated in 2023.

His hand-built furniture celebrates classic joinery, solid hardwoods, and timeless forms, often incorporating subtle textures and weaving. Winner of multiple awards including the Design & Craft Council Ireland Overall Emerging Maker Award and the RDS Craft Award, Christopher creates pieces that are built to last, designed to enhance everyday life, and inspired by the enduring beauty of Ireland’s craft traditions.
